Who is responsible

TM MAGAZINE is published by JIHAN JINKO Inc., Nakamozu-cho 2-83-1004, Kita-ku, Sakai, 591-8023, Japan. The company is the controller of your personal data.

What we collect

When you subscribe: your first name, last name and email address. When you open the link in the confirmation email, we also record the wording of your consent, the time of sign-up and confirmation, and the IP address, so that we can prove your consent.

When you read our emails: whether an email was opened and which links were clicked.

When you visit this site: cookie identifiers, the pages you read, the page you came from, your browser, device and language, and your IP address.

Why, and on what basis

We send you TM MAGAZINE and a short note about Project 2049, the author’s paid weekly essay, because you consented (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw at any time, and withdrawal does not affect what was sent before.

We look at how the magazine and this site are read in order to improve them, and we keep the site secure, on the basis of our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)). You may object at any time.

We answer your messages in order to deal with your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f)).

Who works with your data

HubSpot (mailing list and email delivery), Cloudflare (hosting and security), Google and Twilio Segment (analytics). They process data on our behalf. We do not sell your data.

Transfers outside the EU

We are based in Japan, for which the European Commission has adopted an adequacy decision. Our service providers may process data in the United States; there the transfer relies on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or on the Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

How long we keep it

We keep your subscription data until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only what we need to prove your consent and to respect your unsubscription.

When you sign up, your name and address are used only to send the confirmation email, and you join the list only when you confirm. The confirmation link expires after one hour. If you do not confirm, we delete your details within 30 days.

Your rights

You have the right to access, correct or erase your data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw your consent. Every email contains an unsubscribe link. You may also complain to the data protection authority where you live.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will publish the new version here.
